The Ethos: Documentation is the single source of truth (SSoT)
The goal of the Handbook website is to host all the information necessary to understand our processes, practices, workflows, methods, logic, and systems. This is meant as a quick start guide for getting one up to speed fast.
It is a living website that is meant to be updated so it always represents our most current methodology. Documentation evolves continuously with improvements for clarity, accuracy, and completeness so it always represents our most current methodology and environment so it can be a trusted resource.
The aim is to prevent information silos, making it easier to find information about our environment so the IT staff is empowered to do their work. If the answer to a question exists in documentation, share the link to the documentation instead of rephrasing the information. The more we reflexively add information to the documentation, the more the documentation helps others efficiently accomplish tasks and solve problems.
The Handbook website runs on a serverless Azure Static Web App in our tenant. Website fully under SSO, private, and accessible only with an active account that is a member of the ITS M365 group and able to login with MFA.
Documentation is under git version control in our Azure DevOps Repo. Every page is a .md plain text flat file in the backend.
